The Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences has created a new glamping retreat whereby guests get to stay in a transparent bubble tent on the beach, providing a castaway experience with five-star comforts. Jenny Southan reports
Following the example of the Seaside Finolhu Maldives resort last year, which built a similar beach bubble hotel room, the Amilla has installed a “fully climate-controlled and waterproof inflatable pod” for guests looking to rough it in style, with 360-degree views of tropical scenery.
Starting from US$750 per night, the Amilla Glamping bubble tent lets guests have a castaway desert-island experience, with all the comforts of a luxury hotel room.
Guests can personalise their stay by choosing from three Amilla Glamping packages. “Bubbles & Stars” includes canapés and a bottle of champagne, followed by a barbecue dinner beneath the stars prepared by a private chef. Guests also receive a 30-minute foot massage with organic island-grown coconut oil.
Meanwhile, “Wellness Your Way” (from US$1,000 per night) includes a private beach barbecue featuring dishes from Amilla’s new ‘Wellness Your Way’ menu, which caters to a variety of dietary lifestyles including keto, vegan and lactose-free.
The third option, “Moonlight Romance” (from US$1,000 per night) includes Amilla’s 90-minute “Rose Quartz Heart” massage, using a natural aphrodisiac massage oil and Rose Quartz crystals.
Amilla’s bubble tent can also be booked for overnight stays-only from US$450, or just for the evening for a private barbecue dinner for two for the same price.
