Dubbed M6m (because it’s Minus 6 Metres below sea level), this underwater restaurant in the Maldives is opening at new all-inclusive resort Ozen by Atmosphere on July 15.
Located on the South Male atoll, the five-star resort is highlighting the fact that a meal at this underwater restaurant will be part of guests’ “Atmosphere Indulgence Plan”, meaning the price will be built into their stay.
Apparently, this is a first for a destination most commonly associated with package holidays. It is a sign that the Indian Ocean destination is trying to market itself to the mainstream.
M6m has been built in such a way that diners can look out of the underwater restaurant into the ocean, allowing them to observe some of the fish and sea-life they might be served. (Personally, I would go for the vegetarian option.) Sting rays, sharks, angel fish and turtles can also be spotted.
The package costs £2,749 per person based on two adults sharing an Earth villa for seven nights, including return economy class flights from London Heathrow and speed boat transfers.
Over in Florida’s Key Largo, there is an underwater hotel called Jules’ Undersea Lodge, to which you can only gain access as a scuba diver. You can even order room service pizza.
