‘Cool Sleeps’ is a new collection of trips from Much Better Adventures that involve stays in unique and unusual accommodation. Rose Dykins reports

Adventure travel operator Much Better Adventures has unveiled “Cool Sleeps“, a selection of trips that combine the thrill of adventure travel with unforgettable accommodation.

Offering itineraries in Norway, Jordan, Mexico, Costa Rica, Japan, Morocco and the UK, the Cool Sleeps collection entices adventurous travellers who are also looking for somewhere to stay that adds to the overall experience, rather than just being somewhere to sleep.

“Our Cool Sleep series puts a little bit more emphasis on where you lay your head at night, by staying somewhere a bit special,” says Sam Bruce, co-founder of Much Better Adventures. “The adventure dial is still on max, you just get a very cool stay along the way. Think Martian and Arctic domes, Sami tipis, Japanese ryokans, Bedouin camps and tree tents.”

Much Better Adventures, JordanThe Cool Sleeps itinerary in Jordan, for example, involves visiting ancient Petra, floating in the Dead Sea and snorkelling in the Red Sea, before staying overnight in the Wadi Rum desert.

From their bed beneath in a Martian dome, travellers can gaze up at shooting stars, and then wake in time to experience the desert sunrise. The trip is priced from £965 for five nights and is for groups of up to 16 people.Much Better Adventures martian domes

The itinerary is priced from £1,391.

Meanwhile, its Costa Rica adventure involves trekking through rainforest, sea kayaking, swimming in secret waterfalls and snorkelling over coral reefs, before spending the night in a tent suspended among the trees (from £1,094 for seven nights).

Much Better Adventures is offering free date changes and full refunds to customers whose trips are affected by Covid-19. The company is also running a “zero deposits” policy for trips in 2022 and 2023.

What’s more, 5 per cent of all revenue generated by Much Better Adventures goes towards supporting conservation and reforestation projects around the world.

In March, the company announced it was adding carbon labels to its trips, to help customers understand and consider the environmental impact of their trip.

It is also one of the founding members of Tourism Declares A Climate Emergency, where more than 200 travel industry partners are collaborating to build a more sustainable future for tourism, and has publicised its Climate Action Plan for 2021.
