An all-inclusive offer from the Vakkaru Maldives lets long-stay guests combine remote working with achieving their wellbeing goals. Rose Dykins reports

Located on Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, the Vakkaru Maldives resort is targeting remote workers with a new package that pairs work with wellness – in paradise.

A free offer for all guests who stay for 21 days or longer, Vakkaru Maldives’ “Work Well” package gives guests an oceanfront office to work from, and access to a bespoke wellbeing programme during their stay.

The package includes an upgrade to a bigger villa with a study kitted out with a printer and office supplies. The resort also promises guests will receive “special benefits” tailored to their individual needs.

As part of the package, each guest also gets a “Vacay PA”. As well as offering traditional butler services, these staff members can help with day-to-day tasks such as printing documents, confirming flight information, setting up meetings and managing guests’ work schedules.

If guests fancy a change of scene for when they look up from their laptop, their Vacay PA will move their office from their private study to an “Ocean office”. An outdoor work station with wifi access, guests can gaze up at the Indian ocean when they’re in need of a screen break.Vakkaru Maldives Ocean OfficeEntire teams can also take advantage of the Work Well package at Vakkaru Maldives. It’s possible to host meetings and workshops at the resorts “Beach Boardroom” set-up, so colleagues can enjoy barefoot meetings upon white sand beach.Vakkaru Maldives Beach BoardroomWellbeing while working is an integral part of the package and each Work Well guest receives a personal fitness programme, devised by Vakkaru’s wellness team. This involves one free hour of either yoga or personal training each day, alongside free regular lessons from world-class tennis coaches on the resort’s cobalt blue courts.

Vakkaru Maldives The idea is for Work Well customers to identify a personal wellbeing and exercise goal they’d like to achieve during their time at the resort – whether they want to lose weight, improve their flexibility or perfect their tennis serve.

Each afternoon, while they are working in their villa, Work Well guests will be served a variety of “Brain and Body Fuel” snack and drinks – natural, healthy pick-me-ups to boost their productivity. Examples include mini fruit kebabs, oatmeal and peanut butter cookies and smoothies.Vakkaru MaldivesFinally, for remote workers with their families in tow, Vacay PAs can arrange dolphin or manta ray-watching cruises, family film nights and family sports days.

Vakkaru Maldives’ Work Well package rates start from US$18,000 for 21 nights or from US$25,000 for a month-long stay for two adults. The offer applies to all guests who stay at the resort for 21 days or more.Vakkaru Maldives Ocean OfficeIt can also be combined with the property’s current “Escape Awaits” reopening offer – which means 40 per cent off accommodation, free breakfast and dinner and return transfers and a free spa treatment.

The Maldives reopened its borders to travellers from the UK in July and, since September 10, the island nation requires mandatory negative Covid-19 PCR tests for all arriving passengers. Negative test results – taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival – must be presented upon landing in the Maldives. All travellers also need to fill in a Traveller Health Declaration form 24 hours before their departure to the archipelago.
