Ideal for people staying in villas or chartering boats, the Supper Stars private holiday chef service has launched in Italy, offering gourmet meals for friends and family. Olivia Palamountain reports

Supper Stars is a European private chef service that aims to elevate the holiday experience through gourmet cuisine. Italy is the fourth country to be added to its portfolio, joining Portugal, Spain and the UK, expanding at a time when more travellers than ever are booking “isolation vacations”, a trend Globetrender identified in its recent trend report Travel in the Age of Covid-19.

Created in partnership with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, which champions the Slow Food Movement in Italy to promote traditional and regional cuisine.

It encourages farming of plants, seeds, and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem, focusing on food quality and sustainability.

Supper Stars chefs, many of which come from Michelin-starred restaurant backgrounds, can cater for anything from one meal, to a full day or for the duration of a trip

Users can browse chefs and menus, and pay for the kind of food and experience that they want. For example, a barbecue from Holly Sugars might cost £50 per person, while the “Dress to Impress” menu from Fabio Costa costs £100 per person.

Supper StarsTiago Ribeiro and Margarida Correia launched Supper Stars in Portugal in 2017 with the aim of creating a brand of virtual hospitality that combined a love of food and community with the latest online technology.

“We are delighted to launch Supper Stars private chef services in Italy, a country which is famous for its fine wine and diverse cuisine. From Alto Adige In northern Italy to Sicily in the south, we look forward to helping visitors indulge in the regional food heritage at the hands of a talented local chef,” says Ribeiro.

“Whether to relax after a day touring the streets of Milan and Florence, to make a boat trip along the scenic Amalfi Coast extra special, or to add an additional level of luxury while taking in the glitz and glamour of Lake Como and Portofino, a Supper Stars chef brings the very best of Italy’s restaurants to any private setting, giving a memorable experience and tasty insight into the local culture, all expressed by food.”
