Luxury hospitality company Montage International has partnered with One Medical to provide virtual healthcare for high-paying hotel guests. Sam Ballard reports

With many travellers fearful of catching coronavirus when they are on holiday, Montage International, the firm behind Montage Hotels and Pendry Hotels, has decided to partner with One Medical to provide health services to its well-heeled guests – even for a month after they get home.

Guests of Montage and Pendry hotels will be able to access 24/7 virtual medical care through on-demand video chats or secure messaging.

Guests staying at the company’s US hotels (which include the Montage Kapalua Bay in Hawaii, Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina and Pendry San Diego) will also get a 30-day membership of One Medical’s digital services.

One Medical has an app that allows travellers to consult with the company’s virtual medical team to remotely triage symptoms, including Covid-19 related concerns, and to get a recommended care plan for their concerns or condition.

In markets where One Medical also has offices, guests can make appointments for primary care needs, including Covid-19 testing.

“Having convenient access to reliable health care, both digitally and in-person, is more important than ever for travellers,” says Amir Dan Rubin, chair and CEO of One Medical. “We are pleased to pair One Medical’s modernised, service-oriented, and technology-powered approach to health care with Montage International’s commitment to excellence for its associates and guests.”

Alan J Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO of Montage International, says: “It is paramount that our guests feel safe while they are staying with us and our associates are comfortable coming back to work in our hotels.”

He adds: “Partnering with One Medical allows us to continue to provide extraordinary service to our guests and expand our already robust medical benefits to our associates with seamless virtual care to ease their minds and ensure safety and well-being.” One Medical also provides healthcare to Google and Space X.

While many hotel brands have increased their levels of cleanliness, Montage is one of a select few that are going a step further and actually provide medical support for sick guests.

Le Bijou, a Swizterland-based hotel company, has been offering clients “luxury quarantine apartments” that include personal chefs, daily nurse visits and in-room coronavirus testing as part of its Covid-19 package.

The penthouse apartments at Le Bijou costs between US$800 and US$2,000 per night, while a coronavirus test is available as an add-on for US$500. Twice-daily nurse visits will set you back US$800 per day or 24/7 nursing care for US$4,800 a day, reportedly.
